The View From the Top

I can't believe I name checked Swayze and then he goes and dies. Who saw that coming? I mean, I should have, but... so that was sad. Luckily, it doesn't have too much baring on my life.

And my life, right now - for those of you keeping score - is pretty good. I made it back home in one piece, packed the crap outta that hovel and moved the "F" out. Wahoooo!!!! Can I just tell you that we went for a little family nature walk last night and this neighborhood is fan-freaking-TASTIC! Not once did we pass a soul that appeared to have broken out of the work house, or had to register with the state. Nope, nothing but lovely couples, sweet, idealistic looking Mac students and beautifully maintained old homes. It's just so lovely here! So lovely and so safe feeling.

The move went off without a hitch. I panicked until the end, but once the college boys loaded up the big truck (way more truck than our stuff required) - (and for some reason I thought they'd be hotter... I don't know why... Do you think Jake Ryan put himself through college by pimping or hauling furniture? And where is he now, because I could totally see him cruising around this hood in a vintage Porche with a young, hottie wife and some Gap-clad mop tops... (I've taken this too far, haven't I?))

Other than their average looks, they were sweet boys, and moved with a relative quickness. I was giddy - GIDDY as I swept the floors - Goodbye insane Harlequin bedroom walls!

Goodbye finicky toilet, Evil - eeeevil stove, busted walls, sagging cupboards, giant vicious, wailing dogs and GOOD RIDDANCE!! I've got places to be.

The new building is awesome and if I could find the box with my MP3 player and the camera chord I could show you just how totally awesome it really is. Our furniture just fits the space so perfectly - we fit the space so perfectly. Vince is now in his very own room in his very own crib and sleeps like a rock at night. We're still not getting more than 5 hours at a stretch, but it's pretty good.

Also, thanks to the large amount of time that I've got on my hands, we're nearly unpacked. I can't wait to have people over. I'm already dragging every Summers I can get my hands on through the doors. Everyone must come and see the wonderful home we have.

On the job front, I did meet with my recruiter yesterday. She found me my last two jobs and informed me that she doesn't think that the third time will be all that charming. Seems that she's got absolutely nothing for me right now. She gave me some pointers on my resume, but c'est la vie. I think I'm just meant to luxuriate in my new space for the time being.

I'm going to do my best to enjoy this time off. I've been more or less working the 9-5 racket since I was fourteen. Right now may be the time that I relax and enjoy just being a mom to Vin and a good wife to Matthew. We both may be stressed, but we're also happier and more secure than I think we've been in a while. It's like all the insanity as fortified that it's us taking on this whole wide world - and with our wonderful families behind us. We're going to make it after all.

  2. Hi - congrats on the move! I jog down Summit often. I remember you said you're near Fairview/Portland, so I will call you in advance to set a time to stop by and see it.
