I've been MIA here as we've been dealing with my sister going through alcoholism treatment again. Although I primarily write about my little guy here, it's been familial havoc in my head lately.
In better news, Vince is totally communicating with us. He's also dropping to the floor and squalling whenever something even mildly annoying comes up, but let's ignore the 2 year old actions for now.
He mimics phrases and occasionally even says little things all on his own - which of course leads me to declaring him a genius every time. This morning he asked for, "Bread." So, a slice of bread for breakfast was delivered. He says, Up, on, off, bye, dude (I don't know where he got that one) and kitty. He knows that Reggie is his Dachshund buddy at Meema's house and that he likes to chase a ball. Vin throws it - usually not at the dog's head - for minutes of entertainment.
Yesterday he sang for the first time. Funkytown came on and he sang, "Doo do doo do!" It was awesome. (For the sake of his hipster cred we're only listening to old Stax and Replacements records until he knows the full catalog.)
His best friend in the world is his little cousin J.W. Although Jdub is a older, he understands what Vin's saying to him. They have so much fun playing together - it's face-meltingly adorable.
So, although not all of 2010 was as we'd hoped - still jobless and coping with the insideous alcoholism that seems to plague so many - it's been another year full of blessings and will a lot to be thankful for.
Happy New Year to all!
